We are excited to announce that The Owl Centre have achieved Cyber Essentials certification.
This certification demonstrates that we have implemented essential measures to protect our systems and data from common cyber threats. However, this is just the beginning and we are now working towards achieving Cyber Essentials Plus, which involves a more in-depth and rigorous assessment of our security practices. This next stage will further strengthen our defenses, so we can continue to safeguard the integrity of the sensitive information of our clients.
As part of this process, we will be introducing some enhanced security, particularly around the use of personal devices (BYOD). We understand that changes to BYOD policies may require adjustments, but we are committed to making these new security measures as clear and straightforward as possible. Our goal is to maintain flexibility while ensuring that our systems remain secure, and we are here to support you with any updates required.
What is Cyber Essentials?
Cyber Essentials is a government-backed initiative designed to help businesses identify and defend against the most common cyber threats. To become certified, an organisation must meet five key security controls, which are reviewed and verified by a qualified assessor before certification is granted.
Cyber attacks come in many shapes and sizes, but the vast majority are very basic in nature, carried out by relatively unskilled individuals. They’re the digital equivalent of a thief trying your front door to see if it’s unlocked. Our advice is designed to prevent these attacks.
Why is Cyber Essentials important to us?
- Reassure our stakeholders that we are working to secure our IT systems against cyber attack
- To help attract new business with the promise we have cyber security measures in place
- So that we have a clear picture of The Owl Centre’s cyber security level
- Some Government contracts require Cyber Essentials certification
Achieving our Cyber Essentials certification represents another milestone in Owl’s ongoing commitment to enhancing cyber security and data protection and we thank all members of staff for their cooperation, dedication and assistance with making the required changes during the certification process.
